Why we exist
Legal operations deserve better tooling.
Most legal and conveyancing teams still run on fragmented systems, manual data entry, and email-driven workflows. The tools exist to change that, but the gap between generic software and the real needs of matter-based operations is wide.
NorthCape was founded to close that gap. We bring practical AI and modern automation to teams that handle sensitive documents, complex workflows, and strict compliance requirements. No hype.

Full-stack engineer with deep experience in Elixir, private AI systems, and secure infrastructure. Leads technical delivery and architecture across all client engagements. Liam brings hands-on expertise in building systems that handle sensitive data with compliance-first design.
Nick
Co-founder & Operations Director
Aerospace Engineer with a background in mission critical software systems and complex systems integration. Experienced in business operations, client delivery, and legal technology workflows. Nick understands the operational realities of matter-based business and translates those into practical outcomes.

MatterFirst, our legal practice management platform.
MatterFirst is NorthCape Technology's live legal practice management platform for Australian law firms, designed primarily for boutique firms of approximately 1–20 users.
We build it from the same operational problems we solve with legal and conveyancing clients in our consulting work: intake, documents, matter tracking and billing that live in too many places. It launched in 2026 and offers a guided 14-day trial.
